How commercial ice freezers work
Ice freezers, also called bagged ice freezers, are commercial refrigeration units built for one job: keeping bagged ice solid and accessible for retail sale. You see them at service stations, bottle shops, convenience stores, supermarkets and caravan parks across Australia. They are not the same as food freezers, and they are not the same as ice cream display cabinets. The temperature, insulation, door design and form factor are all specified for ice.
We make two formats. Ice storage boxes are solid-door commercial ice boxes with weatherproof aluminium construction. They sit outdoors year-round, next to fuel pumps or beside the entrance of a country pub.
Glass door ice freezers have backlit ICE signage and triple-glazed heated glass, for indoor placement or sheltered outdoor sites like service station forecourts under cover. Customers grab a bag without staff intervention.
Every unit is lockable, and every unit is built to withstand Australian conditions, from the icy winds of Tasmania to the scorching heat of the outback.
Ice freezers run at -10°C to -15°C, just cold enough to keep ice solid without the wasted energy of a food freezer running at -18°C. They are built with the right insulation and door seals for repeated daily access.
Common questions
The questions we hear most often before you talk to us. If yours isn't here, give us a call on 1300 426 263.
Do you deliver Australia-wide?
Yes. We deliver to every state and territory in Australia, including remote regions. Delivery times vary by location. When you request a quote we'll confirm the exact lead time for your address.
What warranty comes with your ice freezers?
All Ice Boxes Australia units come with a manufacturer's warranty. The current warranty terms are provided with every quote, and our team can talk you through what is covered before you order.
How long does delivery take after ordering?
Lead times depend on stock availability and your location. Most metro orders ship within a standard commercial window, with regional and remote destinations taking longer. We confirm the lead time for your address when you request a quote.
Can glass door ice freezers be installed outdoors?
Glass door units are rated for ambient temperatures up to 43°C and have heated triple-glazed glass to prevent condensation, which makes them suitable for indoor or sheltered placement. For fully exposed outdoor sites, an ice storage box is the right choice.
Can I get a quote without committing to an order?
Absolutely. Use the "Request a quote" button on any product page, or call us directly on 1300 426 263. We are happy to discuss options and answer questions with no obligation.
